UK Trade Minister Visits Gulf Ahead of Key Investment Summit in Saudi Arabia

UK Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds will meet Gulf state officials in Saudi Arabia on Monday to strengthen ties with the region ahead of a key investment summit in October. Discussions with the Gulf Cooperation Council, comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, aim to secure a trade deal that could boost the UK economy by £1.6 billion ($2.1 billion).

How trade sanctions are enforced by (OTSI).

On 12th September 2024, the Department for Business and Trade and the Office of Trade Sanctions Implementation (OTSI) released guidance on the enforcement of trade sanctions. OTSI will begin enforcing sanctions under The Trade, Aircraft and Shipping Sanctions (Civil Enforcement) Regulations 2024, starting 10th October 2024.

British High Commissioner Visits Abia

The British High Commissioner, Dr. Richard Montgomery, visited Abia from Aug. 20 to Aug. 21, engaging in high-level discussions with Governor Alex Otti, government stakeholders, and business leaders. The visit, noted by Atinuke Akande-Alegbe of the British High Commission, aimed to explore economic partnerships between the UK and Abia.
