AI software developer Cogna raises £12.5m in Series A funding

Cogna, a London-based AI-powered software developer, has secured £12.5 million ($15 million) in Series A funding, led by Notion Capital with additional support from Hoxton Ventures and Chalfen Ventures. This investment will help Cogna expand its AI-driven, custom-built software solutions across industries typically underserved by standard software. 

Unlike traditional solutions, Cogna’s “service-as-a-software” model leverages AI to streamline IT consultancy processes, enabling bespoke automation for large enterprises with unique operational challenges.

CEO Ben Peters highlighted that traditional industries are often left behind by the digital revolution due to their complex operational needs. With this funding, Cogna aims to empower sectors with tailored software that reduces bottlenecks and automates labor-intensive tasks, unlocking significant productivity. 
 
This investment will support platform growth, enabling Cogna to expand its AI-powered software capabilities across more sectors.
 
Jos White of Notion Capital expressed excitement about backing Cogna’s vision for a second time, emphasizing the company’s precision approach that offers highly customized and cost-effective solutions.
 
 In just 18 months, Cogna has grown to 40 employees and collaborated with major clients like Cadent Gas and Network Plus. Cadent COO Howard Forster stated that Cogna’s custom software has optimized various business functions, including gas management and procurement. Network Plus CEO Kevin Fowlie added that Cogna’s adaptability has redefined their customer interaction processes by delivering targeted, iterative solutions.
