KPMG UK and FareShare launch new three-year charity partnership

KPMG UK has launched a new three-year charity partnership with FareShare, aimed at tackling food waste and hunger across the UK.

Chosen through a firmwide vote in April 2024, this partnership follows the successful conclusion of KPMG’s previous collaboration with Marie Curie.

Over the next three years, KPMG’s 18,000 employees will contribute £2 million worth of support through fundraising, volunteering, pro bono work, and thought leadership initiatives to FareShare.

FareShare, the UK’s largest charity fighting food waste and hunger, redistributes surplus food through a network of 35 regional centres, feeding over 1 million people while also addressing the root causes of food poverty. For every £1 raised by KPMG, FareShare will provide the equivalent of five meals to those in need.

KPMG Group Chief Executive Jon Holt emphasized the importance of the partnership, citing the troubling statistic that one in six people in the UK, including three million children, experience hunger, while 10 billion meals are wasted annually. He praised FareShare’s comprehensive approach, which not only provides food but also tackles related issues like unemployment, homelessness, and mental health.

George Wright, CEO of FareShare, expressed his excitement over the partnership, noting that KPMG’s support will help FareShare expand its efforts to combat food insecurity and food waste. The partnership will assist over 8,000 charities and community programs, delivering vital food and services to vulnerable populations.

Impact on Business Owners: By aligning with FareShare, KPMG demonstrates how corporations can leverage their resources to address societal challenges. This partnership showcases a successful model of corporate social responsibility with lasting community impact.
